Online: Growing Blueberries in Your Backyard

Blueberries are easy to grow, but many people don’t know how simple it can be! These strong, long-lasting plants don’t usually get sick or attract pests.

In this class, you’ll learn:

  • How to choose the best spot to plant your blueberries
  • How to prepare your soil
  • Which types of blueberries grow best in your area
  • Where to buy healthy plants
  • How to protect your plants from birds, rabbits, and cold winter weather

Washington County Master Gardeners - Paul Richtman

Paul has been passionate about gardening since his youth, focusing on the cultivation of fruits and vegetables. Since 2004, he has been sharing his expertise through Community Education classes. As a certified Tree Care Advisor and Extension Master Gardener from the University of Minnesota, he specializes in growing fruits, vegetables, trees, and shrubs. Paul enjoys sharing the knowledge he has acquired from UMN research and best practices with others.
