Online: Writing for Children - A Beginner's Guide

Adult Enrichment / Arts & Creativity -
Adult W-SP 26

Step into the fun world of writing for children and teens! In this class, you’ll learn how to create stories that young readers will love. We’ll talk about what’s popular right now, how to write in a way that fits different age groups, and how to build characters that kids and teens connect with. You’ll also get tips on how to send your work to publishers and magazines that focus on children’s books.

Whether you want to write picture books or young adult novels, this class will help you get started. You’ll learn how to come up with ideas, write strong stories, and even use your writing to publish other work — like your own book!

This is an online class held on Zoom. Please make sure we have your current email so we can send you the Zoom link before class. You’ll get helpful PDF handouts during the session, and they’re included in the class fee.

Your instructor, LeeAnne Krusemark, is a former journalist, published author and editor, and teaches publishing at colleges across the country — including Harvard Adult Education.
