Voice Lessons: Session 1

Youth Enrichment / Music -
Youth W-SP 26

Discover the power of your own voice! These lessons help you learn how your voice works and build strong singing skills. You will practice breathing techniques and explore your vocal range through warmups. Each lesson includes time to work on songs you enjoy—whether that’s pop, musical theater, or classical music.

As you practice, you’ll improve your technique, musicianship, and storytelling. Singing is a great way to build confidence, learn the value of practice, and celebrate your unique voice. Whether you’ve been singing for years or are trying something new, these lessons make learning fun and rewarding.

Instructor

Emily Thompson

Voice teacher Emily Thompson is a former middle school choir teacher. She enjoys working with students individually to help them discover just what they are capable of as singers. She graduated from St. Olaf College in 2021 with a degree in Vocal Music Education. During her time at St. Olaf studied vocal pedagogy and began to explore teaching methods surrounding contemporary singing styles to complement her strong classical technique. She has taken voice lessons herself for over 10 years and currently sings in Minnesota Chorale and Meetinghouse Chorale as section leader. She has also served as an adjudicator for the St. Michael Albertville Solo and Ensemble contest in 2024.
