    Safeway Driving School was selected by Osseo Area Schools and the Community Engagement department to provide teen driver's education. Safeway is the largest driving school in MN, instructing over 9,000 teens this year alone. It has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and is a BBB Accredited Business. Safeway has 90 experienced instructors background checked by the MN Dept. of Public Safety. When creating your account online, please follow the steps below: 1. Enter in your information and submit. 2. Click the family tab and choose to add a relationship. 3. Click child in the drop down menu (as how they are related to you). 4. Add your child's information (as much information as possible so we can support their experience). 5. Search for your Safeway course and register. 6. You can call, stop by the office or go online to register. If you have questions, call Community Education at 763-391-7242. Classroom training can be taken by students who are 14-1/2 years or older and consists of 10 three-hour lessons. Each lesson is independent and can be taken in any order. If a lesson is missed, the student can sign up for make-up lesson on their Safeway account at www.safewaydrivingschool.com. If you miss a lesson, you need to make up the exact lesson you miss. Lesson calendars are all available on Safeway's website at www.safewaydrivingschool.com. Behind-the-wheel training consists of 3 two-hour private lessons that can be scheduled online or by calling Safeway at 651-351-9150. Pick-up and drop-off is at home, school or work. Training is done in a white late-model car with Safeway's "Student Driver" graphics. You may either pay the full $440 upfront or you can pay $280 at registration with $80 due at your 1st behind-the-wheel and $80 at the 2nd behind-the-wheel. Program includes classroom and behind-the-wheel lessons and all class materials. Classroom instruction is 30 hours and behind-the-wheel training is 6 hours. If your student is more than 5 minutes late to class they will not be allowed to participate in that day's lesson.     This is an ONLINE INSTRUCTION class and will be held via Zoom. Your class link and meeting information will be emailed to you. Please make sure you AND your student's email are on file. District 279 does not support the Zoom Application so you will need to use another device for Driver's Education such as a phone, iPad or a laptop.     Online: Self-Paced Teen Driver's Education (NEW!)

    This is an ONLINE INSTRUCTION class and will be completed via an online learning portal. Your online portal link and your login information will be emailed to you by Safeway Driving School. Please make sure you AND your student's email are on file. You will need a device for Driver's Education such as an iPad or a laptop. Self-Paced, Online Driver's Education Class Experience the flexibility of learning at your own pace with Safeway Driving School’s Self-Paced, Online Driver's Education program. Designed for today’s busy students, this state-approved course offers the same comprehensive 30-hour curriculum as traditional in-person classes but allows students to complete their coursework independently through an engaging and user-friendly online learning portal. Key Details: Self-Paced Learning: Complete the 30-hour course on your schedule, working up to 3 hours per day. The program can be finished in as little as 10 days or over the full 6-month enrollment period. Lessons must be completed sequentially to ensure a structured learning experience. Online Access: Classes are available online 24/7, Monday through Sunday, offering complete flexibility to fit into your schedule. Required Technology: Students will need an iPad, laptop, or similar device to access the course materials. Safeway Driving School will email login credentials and instructions to both the student and parent/guardian (if applicable). MAKE SURE BOTH EMAILS ARE ON FILE AND CHECKED REGULARLY. Package Information: Enrollment in the course also includes the required behind-the-wheel lessons. Students have one year from the final date of their classroom session, or their 15th birthday (whichever comes later), to complete their six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. Course Features: Engaging curriculum combining short videos, interactive quizzes and games, and lectures. After-hours technical support available 24/7. Curriculum support via chat and phone, Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM. Extend your enrollment by an additional 6 months for a $50 fee if needed. Policies: Transfer Policy: Students transferring from an in-person class to a self-paced class must start from Lesson 1. Students registered in the self-paced course may transfer to an in-person program at any time. Student progress will transfer to the in-person program. Refund Policy: Fees are refundable or transferable if the course has not been started. Once the "Start Course" button is clicked, no refund will be issued for the classroom portion of the fee.
