    At times, parents may feel uncertain about what their child needs from them. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking of you. The Circle of Security Parenting™ (COSP) program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. This specialized class, created by Circle of Security International, is led by a registered COSP facilitator. Each session includes videos, skill-building, reflection, and discussion. An in-person, Spanish Circle of Security class—Círculo de Seguridad—will be held Friday mornings at Willow Lane Early Childhood Center.

    ECFE Sampler Classes for New Families! Curious about ECFE? Join us for a sampler class and experience the joy of learning and connecting with other families! We’re offering three class options for families new to ECFE: Infant Class: For families with children from birth to 12 months. Explore fun activities, songs, and tips to support your baby’s growth and development. One to Two-Year-Old Class: Ideal for families with toddlers eager to explore and engage with new experiences. Mixed-Age Class: Perfect for families with more than one child, from birth to age 5, this class offers opportunities for siblings to learn and play together. Try out a class, meet new families, and see what ECFE has to offer! Sampler classes are free and require registration. What is ECFE? Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a unique program designed to support families with young children, from birth to age 5. Through ECFE, parents, guardians, and caregivers engage in classes that combine play-based learning for children with resources, guidance, and support for adults. Each class typically includes time for parents and children to play together, followed by a separate discussion time where parents can connect, share experiences, and receive helpful insights from licensed parent educators. Whether you’re looking to help your child grow socially and emotionally, or want tools and strategies for navigating parenting challenges, ECFE is a warm and welcoming place to build community and learn together.

    The Early Childhood Parent Advisory Council (ECPTO) is made up of families committed to supporting Osseo Area Schools’ Early Childhood and Family Education programs. At our regular meetings, we discuss various topics like program policies, fees, and services. Parent input is highly valued in helping improve the quality and accessibility of all our programs, including ECFE, Preschool, PreK, and Early Childhood Screening. Join Us for the Next ECPTO Meeting You're invited to our next Early Childhood Parent Teacher Organization (ECPTO) meeting. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and guardians to connect, share ideas, and help shape the future of our early childhood programs. We will be offering a hybrid model, so you can attend in-person at Arbor View Early Childhood Center or join virtually. Limited free childcare (called sib care when registering) will be provided during the meeting. A family-friendly dinner follows the meeting. WeWe’re excited to connect with you—your voice matters!   • Empowering Parents, Empowering Children (3 to 5 years old)

    Build your child’s focus, self-control and emotional regulation through activities focused on: Language Storytelling Mindfulness This class will be using a new curriculum designed to help children develop life skills that will help them to get along with others and manage their emotions. We will follow a typical ECFE class structure with time for you and your child to play together, circle time and parent discussion. During parent discussion, we will have the first few weeks to get to know one another before beginning the empowering program. About week 4 of class, we will start parent time with a check-in and then move into the planned lessons. Because this curriculum is still being developed, you will be asked to actively participate in session activities and answer questions at the end of each session. You will be given some children’s books and activities to continue the learning between sessions. Some of the activities will be accessed from the internet. You will also be asked for permission to record part or all of each session.

    Multi-age classes are designed for parents and children birth to five years-old. There will be a variety of activities for children of all ages to explore and learn. Discussion topics will be focused on parenting children from birth to five years old and the interests of the group. Topics may include developmental milestones, positive guidance, sibling relationships, use of media and more! There is no charge for infants birth to 12 months to attend a class for children birth to five. Infants birth to 5 months old attend parent group with their adult. Parent and child separation time will be determined by the needs of the group. Sibling care is not available during family ECFE classes.
  • Family Yoga (Ages 4 to 8)

    For children from age 4 up to third grade as of September 1, 2024. Family Yoga (Caregivers and their children ages 4-8) Create a routine in your family life that will foster connection and develop healthy habits that last a lifetime. This fun family-centered class will help all participants deepen their breath, stretch their spines, and relax their body and mind…together. Partner poses, cooperative games, songs, and stories will expand the yoga practice from your mat into your home! No previous yoga experience necessary. Instructor Laura Honeck, E-RYT 200, RYT 500, M.Ed. in Parent and Family Education Bring a yoga mat or beach towel for each participant. Adult participants must be able to get up and down from the floor without assistance.

Participants will also learn: Practices for better infant sleep and digestion Ways to increase infant brain and nervous system development. How to deepen your baby's sense of safety and attachment to caregivers. Classes that meet one time will give a general overview. Classes that meet two times will go more in-depth and provide opportunities for you to practice and reflect on strategies learned.

While incorporating your little one into the yoga sequence, you'll receive a nurturing, strengthening practice crafted with postpartum safe movements. Join a warm, supportive community of new parents/caregivers— essential during the fourth trimester or postpartum period!     For parents with newborns from birth to 12 weeks. Classes will be begin with an opportunity to weigh and measure your newborn to track growth. A parent educator and public health nurse will be available to provide information and support which will include: Time to meet other parents in the community Learn activities to do at home with your baby. Time to talk about sleep, attachment, development, perinatal mental health and other topics related to parenting a newborn. Come every week or as often as you can.
  • Nature Play Area (2-5 years old)

    This class is for children ages 2-5 as of September 1, 2024. Winter brings unique sensory experiences that can inspire both kids and adults. Our outdoor space is designed to support young children’s learning and development while you enjoy quality time together. While it might not always feel delightful to be outside in the cold, managing challenging conditions helps kids build resilience—an important skill they’ll use in many areas of life. As the saying goes, "There is no bad weather, only bad clothing," but we know there are limits. Check out our weather-related guidelines to learn how we ensure outdoor play remains safe and fun. The outdoor classroom space includes mud kitchen, sand and water play area, giant bird's nest, building and climbing area and lots of room for play, exploration and adventure! Dress for the weather.
